Install guide
The Shopify App Store listing is pending; contact Ledgeree about access. This guide describes setup through your first posted voucher. Setup is a six-step wizard inside Shopify, and everything you choose can be changed later in Settings.
Before you start
- A Shopify store on a plan that lets you install apps, and the right to approve app charges.
- For Zoho Books: an active organisation and permission to approve the access request Zoho shows.
- For Tally Prime: a Windows PC that runs Tally Prime, with Tally's local XML/HTTP interface enabled, and the ability to run an installer on it.
- Your GST basics at hand: default GST rate, HSN/SAC code, and the state each warehouse ships from.
- For Ledgeree Books: nothing extra. No ERP is needed.
Setup steps
Install and approve the plan
Install Ledgeree from the Shopify App Store and approve the subscription on Shopify's own screen. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, so you can check that data maps correctly before paying. Billing is handled entirely by Shopify; you do not need a separate payment account.
Choose your accounting mode
The setup wizard opens straight after installation. Pick one:
- Tally Prime: vouchers post into your Tally company through a small Ledgeree Agent.
- Zoho Books: invoices and credit notes post into your Zoho Books organisation over Zoho's cloud API. No local software.
- Ledgeree Books: automated, read-only GST-ready books with a daybook and downloadable reports, for sellers without accounting software.
Connect your accounting system
This is the only step that differs by mode. Follow the track for the mode you chose.
Zoho Books
- Click Connect Zoho Books. You are sent to Zoho to sign in.
- Approve the access request. Ledgeree asks only for Zoho Books access, nothing else in your Zoho account.
- If your Zoho login has more than one organisation, choose the one that should receive postings.
- Return to Shopify. The page shows Zoho Books connected. Use Reconnect at any time to re-authorise.
Ledgeree reads your Zoho data centre during authorisation, so you do not choose a region. Sign in on the same Zoho data centre your organisation lives on.
Tally Prime
- Download the Ledgeree Agent from the Tally Prime page or the link in the app, extract the zip completely (do not run it from inside the zip), then double-click Setup.bat on the PC that runs Tally Prime. Windows may show a blue 'Windows protected your PC' screen for a new app. This is expected: choose More info, then Run anyway.
- The agent opens a status page in your browser with a pairing-code field.
- Back in Shopify, choose Generate pairing code and type the code into the agent's status page. A code works once and expires after 30 minutes. Generate a new one if it lapses.
- Keep Tally Prime running, with the intended company open, whenever posting is due.
- Confirm the Tally company the agent should post into (Settings > Tally company). Use a sandbox company first if you want to review voucher shapes before going live.
The agent connects outward from your PC. You do not need to expose a Tally port to the internet. Tally in educational or demo mode is blocked from live posting.
Ledgeree Books
- Nothing to connect. Continue to ledger mapping.
- You can connect Tally Prime or Zoho Books later from Settings if you start using one.
Confirm ledger mapping
Review the suggested ledger names (sales, returns, shipping, discounts, payment gateways). Saving confirms the names shown, including existing accounts in your ERP that match exactly, so read them before you save. In Tally you can let Ledgeree create ledgers that do not exist yet. You can skip this step and finish it later from Settings.
Map your Shopify locations
Tell Ledgeree which state and warehouse each Shopify location ships from. This drives the place-of-supply tax split (CGST+SGST or IGST). With Zoho Books, the ship-from state must match the state on the Zoho Books organisation. If a location is flagged as conflicting, correct it and save: other locations keep syncing meanwhile.
Map your products
Set a shop-wide default GST rate and HSN/SAC code, then map products to ERP items. Unique exact matches are suggested for you. Options you can switch on here: auto-create missing Stock Items (Tally) or items (Zoho), and, for Zoho, whether invoices are marked as sent. Unmatched products can be finished later without blocking setup, but a product with no mapping will pause its day's posting until you map it.
Finish setup
Enter the default GST percentage (required; enter 0 explicitly for exempt goods), the accounting start date (defaults to your installation date) and a contact email for privacy requests. After you complete this step Ledgeree starts capturing fulfilments from the start date, and completed days are aggregated and posted on the next sync run. Nothing is posted before this step is complete.
Check that it works
- Fulfil one test order in Shopify (a low-value order is ideal).
- Open the Sync dashboard in Ledgeree. The fulfilment should appear as captured, then as posted after the next scheduled run.
- Open the voucher or invoice in your ERP and compare the amounts and GST split with the Shopify order.
- Process a test refund and check the matching sales return or credit note.
- If something is flagged, find its label on the troubleshooting page.
After setup
- Set the daily schedule
- Settings > Sync schedule controls the daily start time, how many times a failed push is retried and the gap between attempts. Defaults are a start at 8:00 in your shop timezone, up to 10 attempts and 60 minutes between attempts.
- Check payment gateways and COD carriers
- Map each gateway and, if you take cash on delivery, each courier, so receivables land in the right clearing ledgers.
- Review exceptions weekly
- The exceptions and reconciliation views show anything that needs your attention before your accountant closes the month.
